What to do in the event of an accident

Motor insurance claim:

  • Note the registration numbers of the vehicles involved.
  • Note the name of the Insurance Company insuring any vehicle(s) involved. This will be available from the Insurance Disc on each indscreen.
  • Ask for the Names and Address of other people involved and any witnesses.
  • Make a sketch plan of the scene of the Accident and record in writing the circumstances which caused the Accident (This will be required whencompleting an Accident Report Form).
  • Contact us or your insurance company (or our claims partner, Crash services, as soon as possible).

Do not admit responsibility or sign any statement to this effect or negotiate the settlement of any claim without our written agreement.
You Must, If Required, Give:

  • 1. Your Name and Address.
  • 2. The Name and Address of the vehicle owner (if not yourself)
  • 3. The registration number of your vehicle and Insurance details.
  • 4. If Gardai are at the scene of the Accident provide Insurance details to the Gardai. If no Gardai is present, to anyone who was involved in or affected by the Accident – In any other case the information must be given, if requested, to anyone who was present at the time of the Accident.
  • 5. Where a person or persons are injured, the Accident must be reported at the scene of the Accident, or at the nearest convenient Garda station.

Home Insurance claim:

  • Contact us or your insurance company as soon as possible (we have noted contact details of various insurance companies below, if you cannot get through over the holiday period, don’t panic. Do whatever is needed to prevent further loss and contact us when we reopen).
  • Do not go ahead with any repairs (you should, of course do whatever emmergency repair that is needed) without the insurance companies consent.
  • Get written estimates for damage/loss.
  • Keep any broken/damaged goods,if possible, for inspection.
  • If a theft or malicious damage is involved report to the Gardai ASAP.
